Today we introduce Beata Maciejewska from our current Central & Eastern European cohort in Poland. Beata's story from University Lecturer to Salesforce Developer at Nextview Consulting is truly inspirational. Read on to find out more.

BWBW:  Tell us a little about yourself, Beata and your life prior to Bring Women Back to Work.

Beata Maciejewska: I grew up in a small town in Poland with my parents, younger sister, and grandma. I always enjoyed learning new things and was particularly keen on foreign languages.

My studies brought me to Japan, where I completed my PhD, and upon returning to Poland in 2018, I lectured in Japanese History at a Polish university. Teaching and sharing knowledge were the most rewarding parts of my career.

Outside of work, I am a wife and mother to a 13-year-old boy. I am a total dog lover and enjoy spending time with my 17-year-old Maltese named Tofik.

BWBW: Why did you apply to Bring Women Back to Work?

BM: I was introduced to Salesforce in 2021, and in 2022 had the opportunity to gain some hands-on experience through an IT mentoring program and an internship. I had heard about BWBW before applying for the program, and from the very beginning, I found it ground-breaking. Even if I had some doubts as to whether I was a suitable candidate, I decided to give it a go, and it turned out to be one of the best decisions I’ve made. I joined the program in June 2023.

BWBW:  Bring Women Back to Work is a year long reskilling program, what has your experience of the program been? What are you most proud of?

BM: The program has been a game changer for me: I've learned a lot and taken a more holistic approach toward my professional development. I've also received a lot of support, both from my cohort and many wonderful people who are involved in the initiative, such as Marta Mistry.

I'm really proud that now my story is an inspiration for others who are returning to work after a break. I've already had an opportunity to talk about my experience with BWBW during the “SForce Summit” in Poland, and I hope I can continue to contribute to the promotion of the program in the future.

BWBW: At BWBW we also aim to support participants in developing self-confidence and soft skills. Beyond technical skills, what else do you feel you learnt during the program?

BM: I've learned to never give up. The career-changing process isn't easy, it's natural to face many challenges on your path, but you need to focus on your goals and just carry on.

BWBW: Beata, although still enrolled in the program, you already have a new job. Can you tell us about your new role and your employer?

BM: I work as a Salesforce Developer at Nextview Consulting. Nextview is not only a proud hiring partner for BWBW but also is recognized for its involvement in many Salesforce-related initiatives, as well as other projects (e.g., B-Corp, Plastic Whale).

I was invited to take part in the recruitment process with Nextview Consulting after winning the first prize at the “CharITy Hackathon” in Wroclaw, Poland, in September 2023.  Nextview Consulting was a sponsor of prizes, and my participation in the contest provided a great opportunity to talk to recruiters. Ultimately, this is what led to me securing a new role.

BWBW: Do you feel BWBW helped you prepare for your new role?

BM: Participating in BWBW has underscored the significance of networking and community engagement for me. This perspective has enlightened me about the importance of contributing to the community and increasing my involvement.

Regarding certifications, I truly valued the chance to sit for the Administrator Certification exam. This initial step paved the way for further certification pursuits, including the Service Cloud Consultant Certification, which I successfully completed in January 2024, and the Sales Cloud Consultant, on which I am presently focusing.

Most importantly, my involvement in BWBW has fostered a culture of continuous learning, which I've come to recognize as a critical attribute for any Salesforce professional.

BWBW: Beata, do you have any final words for women who are hoping to return to work after an extended break and are working towards becoming a better version of themselves?

BM: The road to change and a better future is always a bumpy one - full of ups and downs. Therefore, I wish all women to take courage, decide to make a step and carry on - even the smallest decision or action is better than doing nothing.

Congratulations, Beata on your phenomenal success with the Bring Women Back to Work program. Your hard work, determination, commitment and enthusiasm has enabled you to secure a fantastic role with our Hiring Partner, Nextview Consulting.

Together we are making a difference to women who want to return to work after an extended break.
